Amber Alert issued for siblings, aged 5 and 6, who went missing from their own frontyard

Police in Florida have launched a frantic search for a brother and sister who went missing from their home in Jacksonville.

First Coast News say 6-year-old Braxton Williams and his younger sister Bri’ya, 5, were last seen playing in front of their house in a mobile home park on West Beaver Street in the Paradise Village on Sunday.

JSO Public Information Officer Christian Hancock said the children went missing at around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. Their parents were not at home.

As per reports, Braxton and Bri’ya’s parents did not report their disappearance right away, instead opting to look for them themselves. The kids were officially reported as missing at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

Braxton, who has a condition placing him on the Autism spectrum, was initially said to be wearing a red sweater and blue jeans, though this has since been refuted by police after the garments were found at home.

5-year-old Bri’ya was wearing a gray sweater sporting multi-colored writing on the front and black leggings.

Hancock has stated police did not know where the parents of the children were at the exact time of their disappearance because they did not find them in their home.

He said: “Obviously, we’re at about seven hours plus that (the children) have been missing, so they could realistically be anywhere in Florida if they’re not alone. If they are alone, obviously, they’re in danger because they’re five and six years old.”

An Amber Alert has now been issued for the young siblings, while multiple search teams have joined the effort. This includes a dive team, K9 unit and aerial units and drones.

We hope they find these two babies quickly. Sending all our prayers and well wishes in the meantime.
